NACT is committed to providing users of the NACT Website with a safe and secure environment in which to view, transmit and receive electronic information. NACT uses reasonable efforts to ensure the information you provide remains private, and will attempt to ensure that the information is used only for the purposes stated below.
The NACT website facilitates two primary modes of access by users: 1) anonymous users, and, 2) myNACT portal users.
NACT collects two types of information about users:
NACT may occasionally conduct surveys to better target content or to gain insight about user preferences. NACT may use this information to better refine its products and services and may also use certain survey information for special awards and drawings.
NACT tracks user traffic patterns. NACT will break down overall usage statistics according to a user’s browser type, domain name and version. The traffic patterns of myNACT portal users may be used by NACT to enhance the service of the myNACT portal.
NACT may track and catalog search terms that users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We use tracking information to determine which site areas are most frequented based on traffic to specific areas. We do not track what individual users view, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps NACT continue to improve its website over time.
Some functions, features and content, require NACT to store a text file called a “cookie” in the browser of your computer. For some types of content that run in Adobe Flash Player, Flash content may store a “Flash cookie” within the Flash player itself. While you do not need to have your browser cookies enabled to use this site, you may need to have cookies enabled for certain content. Cookies do not contain personal information, but will be used to remember your choices of certain options when using some types of content. NACT will never store essential information in cookies, like your credit card number, due to security concerns. For additional information about measures NACT takes to protect the security of your personal information including credit cards, see Security below.
NACT uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience in our network of sites, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users. As stated above, we use information that users voluntarily provide in order to send out electronic reminders and to enable users to participate in surveys and polls. NACT may send out reminders to subscribers on a regular schedule and occasionally send out special editions when we think subscribers might be interested in something we’re doing. NACT will, at its discretion, use your records to communicate with you, or to facilitate communications by others with you, about education, training, and award programs judged to be of potential benefit, as well as future tests and offers. NACT reserves the right to confirm whether you do or do not hold NACT certification and in which areas.
We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don’t like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you. We track search terms entered in Search function as one of many measures of what interests our users but do not track which terms a particular user enters.
NACT creates aggregate reports on user demographics and traffic patterns for internal use. This allows our users to receive notifications that are pertinent to their needs.
NACT uses the above-described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and help us better understand our audience’s demographics. This is essential to providing websites of maximum value. NACT will, at its discretion, may use your records to communicate with you about future tests and offers, or to facilitate communications by others with you, about education, training, and award programs judged to be of potential benefit.
NACT operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals within NACT and its contractors have access to the information provided by our customers. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.
NACT gives users opt-in choices to receive information from NACT via e-mail. NACT’s opt-in policy helps ensure that you receive only the announcements you request, per the recommended practices of Internet community. NACT makes every attempt to keep e-mail addresses current and accurate.
To establish a myNACT account, you must be thirteen (13) years of age or older, and provide your full legal name, date of birth, last four digits of your SSN, mailing address, telephone number, and either an e-mail address or a fax number. All myNACT users, including company account managers, must establish individual accounts. You must protect your user name and password so that you don’t compromise your account’s security. Your NACT certification status (for tests you have passed) may be viewed by your employers. If you do not wish for your employer to view your status, you must un select the “Release my NACT status to others” preference in your myNACT account profile.
NACT reserves the right to review or suspend any myNACT account for any reason, including, but not limited to, suspicious, privacy concerns or fraudulent activity.
